11 Biggest Mistakes People Make In Home Business

There are numerous mistakes that people make after getting into a home based business. This is usually the cause for failure so I would like to go through some of the most common mistakes people make.

1. Not treating this as a real business:
Because the cost is minimal, people don’t take it seriously. This is a real business with the potential to become extremely profitable. When you don’t invest much in your business, in the back of your mind you are thinking that you won’t have that much to loose should it not work out. This is a major cause for failure.

2. Not getting the right training:
You need to get specific specialized training in your particular field. You wouldn’t want a doctor operating on you if they haven’t been properly trained. You wouldn’t want a teacher trying to teach you if they haven’t been trained. You wouldn’t want a Golf Pro trying to teach you to play golf if they haven’t had any specialized training. A home based business is no different. You need specific specialized training in order to be successful.

3. Not building relationships:
There are so many people who prefer just making money off of other people. They don’t care about what is best for you. People join people these days because they want to know that they can rely on their sponsor to be there for them, that they care about them. If you have built a relationship first and down the road you choose to join another opportunity, they will follow you. Why? Because you became friends first and built a relationship.

4. Not following a proven system:
If you are always trying to come up with better ways to do things instead of following an already simple proven system, you will definitely fail. You have to understand the power of duplication. Quit trying to reinvent the wheel. That which is complicated hinders growth.

5. Not being your own best customer:
When you believe in your product, you will be unstoppable. If you use your product regularly, you will be able to share your own experience with your prospects and be your best customer. Create your own story with your own product.

6. Not telling stories:
The truth is that facts tell and stories sell. Not giving testimonials at all is a big mistake. Don’t answer product questions and compensation plan questions with facts. Give stories and tell results from others that have used it. An average marketer sells features, a good marketer sells benefits but a great marketer sells results.

7. Not spending enough time prospecting:
You need to spend 80% of your time on prospecting, 19% of your time on training and the remaining 1% of your time on problem solving. Do not get yourself in lead deficit disorder. Get with some lead advertising campaigns if necessary. Stop thinking about it and start doing it.

8. Not following up:
Most people don’t follow up because they are afraid of rejection. The fortune is in the follow up. A call says that you care who this person is. If you have built a relationship with them, they may be ready to sign up in another three weeks but wouldn’t have if you hadn’t followed up. Circumstances change, things happen, whatever the reason the prospect gave you at the time you last spoke, may not be the case when you follow up.

.9. Not asking for the order:
Don’t be afraid to ask for the order. Always use a closing script, ask six simple questions, ask for the order and then be quiet. The prospect will end up closing themselves. If you have opened the line of communication, the prospect will make up their own mind and do what they really want to do.

10. Buying excuses:
Excuses are just well planned lies. I’m too young, I’m too old, my friends would laugh at me, it’s too expensive, I don’t know if this if going to work, I don’t have enough money, I don’t have enough time, I can’t do this, etc. If you have excuses, so does your prospect. Let’s face it, if you want something bad enough there aren’t enough excuses in the world to stop you.

11. Not reinvesting back into their business:
Every business requires reinvesting. You have to reinvest back into yourself, your skills, your lead generation campaign, your advertising, etc. You have to reinvest in order to make more money. It’s crucial in order to be successful.

Don’t let any of these mistakes hinder your chances of reaching your goals. Stay on the right path and I will see you at the top.
