Take a Break from Your Work at Home Business

Recently I have heard some conversation about taking a break from all things business. We may not realize that, because we work at home, we still need a break every once in a while. Even if it is just a day or two, it may help you to come back with a fresher mind and ready to tackle all the things that are required for your business to become successful.

I know for myself, I think that I don’t need a break because I’m all day and just pop off and on the computer when I have time. If anything, I think that may cause more harm than good because there is not a solid schedule. I know I need to work on that but sometimes it is just impossible with all the kids home. Four kids to be exact! Hopefully in the fall things can be scheduled more efficiently. Right now I just do what I ca, when I can.

Some people might feel guilty taking some time off, but there is nothing to feel bad about. People working at home need to recharge their batteries just as much as someone working outside the home. It keeps the mind clear and fresh and will help with new ideas for your work at home business.

In a recent forum discussion a woman took a week off to de-clutter her home and came back with fresh ideas and a new sense of drive for her business. If we all don’t have time to take a whole week off, then even a day or two would be beneficial. The key is to not do anything business related though. Try to not even turn on the computer if that is the type of work at home business you are involved in.

Do things that are fun with your family and also take some time to do things by yourself. Just relaxing with a book can be enough for some people. Get your mind on something other than business.

So, with that said, go do something fun and try not to think about your work at home business too much. Oh and thanks to Ros for inspiring this post!

Tara,
Taking a break is so hard, I know, I am one of those who feel guilty when I do, but the reward of taking a break is priceless.

Hi Tara,

I think people who work on their computer for longer time should take atleast a short break to relax themselves. Sometimes you can get exciting ideas and create great results after a break.

Good post.

Hi Tara,

This taking time off is really great advice. It is particularly relevant for me as I tend to get really obscessed by this internet stuff.

Just reading your post has reminded me that I need to spend more time with my kiddies.

Thanks for that.

Hi Tara,

That's great to have in your blog! When you are working hard on your business you can almost feel guilty if you take time off.

Of course, that is the best thing you can do, because you will inevitably come back with renewed vigour and some inspired ideas.

Hi tara, taking a break is very important when you work a regular job and then go home to work on the computer for hours everyday. I am now to a point where I'm actually taking off until next Tuesday.

Hi Tara,

I had been working diligently on my online business for sometime, burning the midnight oil, spending every free minute I had. I didn't need a break. Or did I?

Suddenly, I had what I term as brain freeze. I couldn't think straight, what to do next, I couldn't even be bothered to post to my blog.

One week on and I am now back in the swing of things, but this time, I take occasional breaks as I don't want the same thing to happen again.

Breaks are so important.

Thanks for the post.
