Promotional Business Gifts

If you run a company, then you know that marketing is one of the biggest challenges you're constantly faced with. You have to keep putting your product and company names in front of customers or they're likely to move on to a different brand. But at the same time, you've got a relatively small advertising budget, which greatly limits your marketing options. Newspaper ads, radio spots, and billboards are probably out, so you should consider purchasing promotional business gifts instead.

Promotional business gifts are items such as pens, calendars, key chains, lanyards, mugs, mouse pads, memo pads, and other accessories that can be personalized with your company's name and logo. They are generally available at significant discounts from online distributors and, since you don't have to purchase huge quantities in order to qualify for the savings, you can usually find some type of promotional business gifts that fit your budget.

Ordering promotional business gifts from one of these websites is easy. All you have to do is browse through their catalog of available items, select a few that you like, and detail your personalization needs. If you want your company logo to appear on the promotional business gifts you order, you will need to submit your artwork to the distributor either in an electronic file or through the regular mail.

Once you've found an online distributor that can supply you with exactly what you want, you'll then be able to use your promotional business gifts in a number of ways. For example, you can hand them out to current and potential customers just as a token of appreciation. Your current customers will feel valued; while potential customers will remember the extra effort you put forth and will likely think of you the next time they need to place an order.

Another way to use promotional business gifts is to offer them as a premium attached to regular orders. For example, if you sell t-shirts, you can run a special promotion wherein you toss in a free key chain or lanyard with every purchase. You'd be surprised at how simple promotional business gifts can induce customers to act.

You can also use promotional business gifts internally as rewards for the best performers on your staff. Obviously not many employees would bother to go all out just for the chance of winning a personalized pen at the end of the month, so you'll probably want to purchase some high-end promotional business gifts for this purpose. This would include such items as jackets, laptop bags, briefcases, and leather portfolios.

Overall, promotional business gifts are an excellent way to advertise your company or products when you have a limited budget to work with. Regardless of the specific kind of promotional business gifts you're looking for, chances are you'll be able to find a supplier who can get you the products you want at a price you can afford.

Tara Martindale - PIPS Member with a Bright Future

Here is an interview I did with fellow PIPS member Doug Gorman. Thanks Doug it was a pleasure doing this with you!

Tara Martindale ("tmartindale" in the forum) is an encourager. She is a mainstay in the Plug-In Profit Site forum and is always willing to lend a helping hand. She is very pleasant and with any post I have seen from her she wants to help and participate in any way that she can. What I have learned personally from Tara is that if she cannot help with a question you have, she will try her best to point you in the right direction. I wanted to interview Tara so everyone can get to know a little more about this PIPS member with a bright future.

Tara, please tell us about yourself.

"I am a 34 year old stay at home mom. I've been married for almost 10 years and we live in Ontario, Canada. I went to school to be an RPN (Registered Practical Nurse) but it turned out not being what I really wanted to do. After working in the field for a while I became pregnant and we decided that I would stay home and take care of my son.

3 more children later I was still staying home and I enjoy it. I have always wished that I could make some money while staying home, but I thought all of the opportunities on the web were scams. My sister started with it and she was making some cash so that's when I decided to give it a try."

How did you come across PIPS and why did you join?

"I actually joined SFI and Traffic Swarm first. I found SFI through a search. I then started searching for other opportunities to see what else was out there and that is when I found PIPS. Through my searches, I was already aware of the programs involved. I thought for a couple days and decided to take the plunge. I was so excited, I went through the 30 Days to Success Guide in about 3 days."

Were there any fears of Internet marketing that almost kept you from starting?

"There were plenty of fears. Being scammed, money, failure, and the work involved since I didn't know anything about it. I'm still learning to this day and I've been at it for over a year now. I know there is still a lot for me to learn and visiting the PIPS forum is a great way for me to do that. There are plenty of people there that are willing to help and provide some great information."

How do you juggle your family and your business and still have time for yourself?

"Usually, if I need to really concentrate on something, I'll wait until the kids go to bed. During the day I'm on and off doing smaller tasks like submitting articles or link directories. Thank goodness for cable Internet service. When I first started I had no idea what HTML was and that took up a lot of time trying to figure it out. It seemed I was on the computer all day.

Trying to change my site was a challenge but I loved every minute of it. Thankfully, I have a husband who is very involved and helpful so if I need some time to go shopping alone I can do that. I can have time for myself pretty much whenever I want."

What is your motivating factor for doing this business?

"The future of my family. I want to make enough money to make things easier for us so my hubby doesn't have to work so much. My children are getting older and with age comes more expense, so that is a huge factor. College, weddings....need I say more! I also love to shop, so having extra cash for that is always nice ;) ."

What is one tip that you can give that you have had success with in bringing people to your sites?

"I submitted my newsletter to a site that is all about newsletters and I get some visitors and subscribers that way. Link directories, classifieds, and articles are also some of the things that I do to bring visitors."

What is one thing you would tell new members to do when they start?

"Concentrate on one thing at a time. It is so tempting to join everything under the sun because they sound so good, but it is only distracting. In PIPS, concentrate on the 30 days and set a budget so you don't over spend. It's easy to go over budget, so stay disciplined. Learn all you can about optimizing a website because it will be a necessity to get your site noticed in Google. I also have to add, do not give up. You may not see success for a long time, but in the end it will be worth it, just be patient."

What would you like to see from PIPS in the future?

"I would like to see some HTML and SEO training. I don't know how many times I went back and forth checking my site when I was in the process of changing it. It was all trial and error because I knew absolutely nothing about it. SEO is still something I'm not sure I'm doing properly! I guess I'm not doing too badly if my site is on page 1 or 2 for my main keywords. I don't see a whole lot of traffic from it though. I know it'll come with time."

Tara brings out another extremely important facet of home business. Being patient. Nothing happens overnight and if you build your bridge to freedom, you must do so one brick at a time. It truly is a virtue and you must train yourself to do so. Tara hit the nail right on the head when she said, "You may not see success for a long time, but in the end it will be worth it, just be patient." If you combine vigor with a patient attitude, your success will come, and the benefits will be that much sweeter.

"For myself I am an optimist -- it does not seem to be much use being anything else"

Manage Your Schedule and Stay Stress Free

In today’s busy world staying on top of things and being able to successfully manage your schedule is essential if you want to remain stress free, a schedule is all about planning your day more efficiently which ultimately ensures that you get everything accomplished that you wish to. The most efficient way to do this is to list your time and tasks in order of priority and determine what top priority is and to set out goals in your life that you want to accomplish.

Determining goals and priorities
In order to be able to manage your time more efficiently and get the most out of your day you must be able to be in control of your life and decide exactly what it is that you want out of life and what you need to do in order to reach what you want. The next decision is managing your priorities efficiently; you do this by determining what is more important to you. The next step is analyzing what you do with your time by finding out exactly how much time you spend on a particular task in life, a journal will help you greatly with this part and you should make a list of your schedule and daily life and determine exactly how long you take on certain activities. Activities you should include could be working, studying, exercising, sleeping and relaxation, once you have done this you can then go on to evaluate the use of your time and determine the best schedule for making better use of it.

Matching available time with your priorities
In order to best manage your time and make your day more efficient you need to take a look at the detailed list you prepared and use your time to match your priorities. As well as taking into account the amount of time you actually spend on each task you should also ask yourself if you are spending enough quality time on a task. A good example of this would be that if you studying then are you studying when you are likely to take in more information or is studying fitted in whenever you can, if you are leaving studying until the end of the day then you are likely to be tired and wont concentrate as well as you would earlier on in the day.

Tips for managing your time more efficiently
• Break down large tasks into smaller ones and tackling each individual part one at a time can ease the stress considerably than facing one larger task

• Get rid of routine tasks, if a task is done just out of routine instead of necessity then eliminate it if possible.

• Look at your habits to see if they could be changed, maybe you could do certain things different ways and save yourself some time in the process.

• Evaluate yourself to determine if you are a morning person or night person and organize tasks to use whatever time suits you best.

• Learn to say the word “no” when asked to do something for someone, don’t be continually put upon by others who know you cannot refuse them, its ok doing favors but it can take considerable time from your day.

Most Profitable Small Businesses

Money isn't the only concern that motivates people to start a business. As a matter of fact, starting a business can be extremely financially draining. You have to invest your own money and put everything on the line. Even the most profitable small businesses don't often make money at the beginning. I have met many now successful small business owners who had to spend months or even years teetering on the brink of financial ruin before they could make it big. They started out in business not simply because they wanted to make money, but also because they wanted to be independent. Good small-business owners are shrewd businessman, but more importantly, they are people who enjoy being in control of their own destiny.

Nonetheless, the desire to make money is always involved in starting a small business. Almost everyone who goes into business for themselves dreams of owning one of the most profitable small businesses one day. Unfortunately, these dreams can turn your small business venture into a victim of some scam. The Internet is filled with so-called “most profitable small business” sites promising that you can make 1000's a day with little or no effort. They claim that everyone can start profitable home businesses by subscribing to their simple systems. The fact that people still buy this nonsense is testimony to how badly many people want to make a good living!

The most important thing is to have the right dreams and the right expectations. It is alright to want to start one of the most profitable small businesses. It is important to have big dreams if you're going to succeed in business. Nevertheless, it is also important to have realistic goals. You should understand that getting involved in businesses is tough. The first few months will definitely not be easy. The first few years could be hard. Try to understand how long it will take for things to turn around for you. Make sure that you can make ends meet at all times, But don't indulge in luxuries. The most profitable small business owners don't spend extravagantly. On the contrary, they are notoriously thrifty, taking advantage of all the money saving tips they can think of. Just because you own your own business doesn't mean you should be taking your friends out for expensive meals all the time! Wait until you are actually running one of the most profitable small businesses before you start throwing your money around!

Making Money Online

Millions of individuals are taking full advantage of the Internet these days. And they should considering how many great ways there are to earn extra cash. Some even make the decision to earn a living completely from home. Far too many folks are sick and tired of dealing with major companies and random lay-offs. You simply never know when it might be your turn to go. Therefore they begin making money online. Now, there are several ways one can go about this. Some people choose to start their very own Internet business, which can likely be ran from their home. While others dabble in adsense and make cash off of daily web traffic. Believe it or not, there is a great deal of money to be made this way.

It's crucial to consider what you need to avoid if your goal is making money online. Along with all the wonderful options at your fingertips, there are scams galore. I can't tell you how many scammers I've spotted online selling their hoopla. They pitch a great game about making money online. Virtually all of them will tell you how much can be made on the web if you do this and this, and then they proceed to pitch a product they're selling. Most likely it's a DVD or some sort of bogus software. This is where you have to stop and think for a moment. If they can really make so much cash doing what they're encouraging you to do, then why are they spending their time and effort pitching something to you? Wouldn't they be off making money online themselves? Instead they've chosen to sell a gimmicky product, which basically just amounts to some information. Obviously they weren't doing too well.

When striving to earn cash via the web, avoid product pitches that guarantee riches. You can attain the crucial information you need for starting an online business, building websites and earning adsense revenue, or selling products via auctions, just by scouring the web. It's all free. Begin by contemplating how you want to start making money online and what aspect of web-business you'd excel at. The more time and effort you put into your online money-making, the more turn-over you'll surely see.

Making Time for Yourself While Working at Home

Operating a business from the comfort of home may sound like a great way to live life. No bosses to answer to, no traffic to contend with and no tight deadlines to meet. You can make your own schedule and get things done in your own time on your own terms. There is a certain feeling of freedom that you may feel.

When working from home you may find it difficult to find time for yourself, between getting your work done and taking care of the house and children, if there are young ones at home. What you may find is that your work starts getting pushed later and later into the evening and eventually takes up your nights.

In order to avoid this from happening you have to have a business plan. Figure out the best hours in the day to work your business and stick to it. What do you want to accomplish in your business? If you want success sooner rather than later you may have to put in more hours. Some sacrifices may have to be made. Work with your family to devise a schedule that will benefit everyone.

The worst thing to do is to take important hours away from children or spouse. Feelings can get hurt and resentment may build if you spend too much time on the business and not enough time doing the things you enjoy with family. You may decide that working when the kids are at school and your spouse is at work is best. If you have kids at home then working when they go to bed may be a better solution.

So where does the time for yourself come in? This is where the spouse may have to step in for a couple hours a week or day or whatever suits your needs. If it is possible you may be able to take an hour out of your day to do something just for you. It may take a while to figure out the best plan for everyone but eventually it will be like second nature getting everything done in a day.

You may want to get up a little earlier before sending the kids off to school to exercise or shower and get ready for the day. Once the kids are gone you can work on your business for a few hours to get the important tasks done. All the errands that need to be done could possibly be done after lunch. By the time the kids get home from school it is time for dinner, bath, playtime and bed. Some more work for business could get done before you go to bed.

Taking one day a week to do no business at all may be something that could be beneficial to you also. A whole day with the family doing things you all enjoy or going somewhere to get pampered may be things you would like to do on your day off. Sometimes the work of your business can take over and you forget to take that important time that is needed for yourself and your family. Keep a schedule and stick to it so everyone knows when you need to work. That way they know they will get their time with you and not feel neglected or left out.

Building A Home Internet Business To Make An Income Online

Most folk who turn to the internet to better their financial status are unaware of what it takes to make an income online, so this article covers the steps to actually building a home internet business to the point of generating internet income.

The internet offers anybody with a computer and internet connection the opportunity to start a home internet business with a click of the mouse, but building a home internet business is where the challenge, work and excitement begin.

Too many people get totally disillusioned when they have not made an income online after a few days or weeks of starting their home internet business, but that is purely because they do not appreciate the fact that it takes time and effort to build a business online.

The building process of a home internet business never stops and if you can appreciate that you will need to be continually building, extending, maintaining or making alterations then you will be well on your way to making an income online.

Building A Home Internet Business

Your need to get your website in front of as many people as possible who are looking for what your business has to offer, so the whole building process is geared to attracting vast numbers of targeted visitors to your home internet business.

This involves making the presence of your business felt on the internet and this is the process of building that we are going to discuss here.

It is important that you have a means of building your list. Offering an email newsletter is a good example and with an auto-responder set up your visitors will be able to subscribe to your newsletter and so you start the list building process. This will enable you to also send your list members broadcast messages from time to time.

Ensuring that your website is search engine friendly is another important factor to ensure that you achieve good rankings in the search results and you can optimize your website for your chosen keywords yourself.

There are many ways to start making the presence of your business felt and it is advisable to use a variety of methods. Building back-links to your website is what is needed to give you better rankings in the search engines and a very effective method is writing and submitting articles to the article directories on a regular consistent basis, using the author resource box to anchor your keyword phrase to your website.

Exchange links with other websites to build your link popularity and add your link to web directories. Constructively post in forums with a link to your website in your signature. These methods can be totally free if you have the time to write and submit. If you are short of time you can always hire a ghostwriter to write your articles and invest in an article submitter for submitting your articles.

Pay per click advertising is another way to get almost instant targeted traffic to your website. You can also place adverts on the respected classifieds sites. Social bookmarking and blogging are also quick ways to spread the word.

Extending A Home Internet Business

As far as your actual website or blog is concerned it is important to continually add new content, not only to please the search engines but to add interest to your site as well. You can continually expand your website by adding new pages which target different keywords, thus attracting different visitors. Monitor your rankings in the search engines for your chosen keywords and keep an eye on your competition and make adjustments to your site where necessary.

As the presence of your home internet business starts to be felt on the internet the volume of traffic to your website will steadily increase and if this is not happening you know that you need to do more of the above disciplines.

Maintaining Your Website

Be sure to regularly maintain your website by way of checking that all your links are working. Check your download time. Remove unnecessary links. Add more up-to-date features. Keep your website current.

Making Alterations To Your Website

There may come a time that you are receiving a lot of traffic to your website but you are still not making an income online. What now?

This is when you need to take a serious look at your website. Are you offering what you promised in your adverts? Can your visitors easily find what they are looking for? Is your website easy to navigate? Is your website displaying offers or adverts from other websites that are distracting your customers? Do you have irritating flashing banners on your site? Are you asking your visitors to fill out too many forms or lengthy surveys? Do you have a call to action section? Are you giving your visitors too many options? Are you offering too much information or non-relevant content?

Many forums have a section where you can submit your website for a review. A good idea would be to go back to the forums where you have been posting and submit your site for a review, explain the problems you are experiencing and request honest feedback to help you solve the problem. You could join an SEO forum as well and submit your site for a review from a more specialized point of view.

Making An Income Online

As you can see from the above, there are many factors involved in building a successful home internet business, but once you have reached the stage that your website is being viewed by a large number of people on a daily basis who are in the market for what your home internet business has to offer and your website is clear in its offerings, that is when you will start making an income online.

9 Things About SEO That You’re Afraid To Believe

Copyright 2007 Jeff Casmer

If you own your own work from home business then you may be in need of some clarification. Below are 9 things about internet marketing that you need to know if you want to achieve success.

1. Speak up

It’s time to get heard, you may have been taught to stay in the foreground but this is the internet, and now’s not the time to hide behind pages and pages of text. Get an audio up. One of the easiest ways to deliver content that will be remembered is to use an audio. Let your website do the talking.

2. Get outside the box

Every site needs traffic but not all methods of traffic generation are suitable for every business. If your getting traffic in but their not staying long enough to find why they should be doing business with you and if your website is producing a “hi oh wait, goodbye” effect then you may need to adopt a different method of traffic generation instead of sticking with the conventional search engine optimization method.

3. Get a professional personality

Your website maybe focused on a hobby but it needs to have a professional voice. All the scripts, e-mails, seminars ect… should be presented in a professional and precise manner. Your presentation should always be compelling, memorable and unique.

4. Technology < Communication

It’s not about technology, it’s about communication. You use the internet as a means to develop your business but at the end of the day it’s how you communicate yourself that’s important. Your customers have to be able to understand you and feel connected. This is not done with an excessive use of fancy gadgets; it’s done with good solid communication skills.

5. Linking out of business

Would you ever invite people to leave your website? That’s what you are doing when you have a lot of outbound links on your website. Does it make sense to get a visitor simply to have them leave seconds later?

6. Turn on your visitors, not off

A lot of websites have boring text. You want to seduce your visitors with an entertaining, imaginative, informative and memorable content. You may be the one writing it but someone else has to read it so don’t waste their time with boring or self-prompting text.

7. Stop going keyword crazy

Content is one of the best ways to optimize with search engines. All your text gets indexed and search engines look for keywords. So what do people do? They repeat the same thing over and over again because they are so focused on search engine optimization. You got your message across to the search engines but your readers are probably confused and bored.

8. Avoid playing SEO catch up

Everyday it seems some tech wiz finds a new way to beat search engine algorithms. When search engines catch on they change their criteria. Good for the wiz kid, but not so good for you. You spend so much time playing SEO catch up that you lose focus on actually building your website.

There is such a thing as too much.

9. Did you get rid of all your images and multimedia and replace it with pages upon pages of text because you were worried about search engine optimization and load times. Did you stop and consider who is actually going to go through all that text.
